MUUSJA joins Compassion & Choices at the Capitol
Webinar for background and to prepare to speak with legislators: April 12th at Noon and 6:00 PM Legislator visits: Scheduled individually depending upon your voting address, during week of April 12 and April 16th Q&A and Debrief/Follow-up visit for Minnesota UU’s with Rev. Harlan Limpert & Dr. Thoman, 6:30pm April 19th Join us from home: COMPASSION & CHOICES AT THE MINNESOTA STATE CAPITOL Modeled after Oregon’s Death with Dignity Act, the Minnesota End-of-Life Option Act (SF1352 / HF1358) authorizes medical aid in dying so that terminally ill Minnesotans of sound mind may request and receive a prescription medication they may self-ingest for a peaceful death. Opponents to the Act spread misinformation and use terms that stoke unfounded fears. The facts are: * Medical aid in dying is a well-established medical practice that safely provides terminally ill adults with the option of a peaceful death; * It is completely optional — no one is required to participate; and * Strict criteria and safeguards in the law protect vulnerable individuals. We know that opponents base their arguments on fear, not fact. We also know that fear can be effective. Please help us counter the fear and misinformation with compassion and facts. REGISTER HERE On April 12, you can attend a webinar (offered at noon and again at 6 p.m.) to learn the facts and prepare for your legislative visits. Then, between April 12 and April 16, you’ll attend a 15-minute meeting with your lawmakers from the comfort of your home. You may be part of a larger group that includes other supporters from your district. Learn more when you REGISTER Lawmakers need to understand that Minnesotans support this end-of-life option and that we are holding them accountable to listen. Thanks — I hope you can make it!
