Volunteer Opportunities
Become A Congregational Connector!
In an effort to strengthen our congregations’ connections to MUUSJA, and to help congregations connect better with one another, MUUSJA invites each Minnesota Unitarian Universalist congregation to identify a MUUSJA Congregational Connector.
Description:
Are you passionate about social justice and eager to make a tangible difference in your community? Would you like to connect in community with other UU organizers from across the state? Would you like to explore what spiritually grounded organizing could look like? Our state-wide organization, Minnesota Unitarian Universalist Social Justice Alliance, is seeking dedicated individuals to serve as liaisons between our organization and their home church.
You will play a crucial role in fostering collaboration, communication, and engagement between our organization and your church community. You will serve as a bridge, conveying our organization’s mission, values, and initiatives to your fellow congregants while also representing the unique perspectives and priorities of your church or fellowship within our organization. Here’s what we’re up to:
Increasing our capacity to engage the many unique UU communities in our state by building relationships between and among UU congregations and fellowships.
Giving our isolation, anguish, and fear a break by coming together and following Love’s call for Justice in tangible, spiritually nourishing ways.
Intentionally exploring what a spiritually grounded approach to social justice action and organizing looks and feels like.
Responsibilities:
1. Act as a point of contact between your home church and our state-wide Unitarian Universalist social justice organization.
2. Attend one monthly meeting via Zoom with other MUUSJA Congregational Liaisons and strive to attend special events as scheduled (no more than two per year).
3. Facilitate communication channels between your church leadership, members, and our organization, ensuring that relevant information is shared effectively.
4. Advocate for the integration of social justice principles and initiatives within your church’s activities, programs, and outreach efforts.
5. Collaborate with MUUSJA to identify opportunities for joint projects, campaigns, or initiatives that align with the values and mission of both your church and MUUSJA.
6. Provide feedback, insights, and suggestions to improve the partnership and collaboration between your church and MUUSJA.
Qualifications:
– Active engagement in a Unitarian Universalist congregation.
– Available to attend Zoom meetings on the first Monday of the month from 7:15 pm to 8:15 pm.
– Checks email regularly.
– Passion for social justice issues and a commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion.
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
– Ability to effectively navigate and engage with diverse perspectives and stakeholders.
– Willingness to dedicate time and effort to serve as a liaison between your church and our organization.
Join us in building bridges, fostering collaboration, and making a positive impact on social justice issues in our state.
