MUUSJA equips individual Unitarian Universalists and UU congregations to be skilled, accountable, faithful partners with broad movements working for justice and collective liberation. We’re a small but mighty organization, and we’re growing fast to meet the needs of our communities across the state by:
- CONVENING: bringing people together within, across and beyond congregations
- CAPACITY BUILDING: honing skills and spiritual grounding for effective justice-making
We help Minnesota UU congregations:
- Connect with other mission/vision aligned individuals and groups
- Train leaders in social justice work
- Build partnerships with local community and interfaith groups
- Integrate justice work with mission and practice
JOIN THE BOARD!
Board service is an opportunity for committed UUs who want to live into our faith’s ideals and harness the strength, power, and joy of community to make positive change.
The Board uses a policy-based governance model. Because we have a small staff, board members dedicate occasional time to volunteering at organizational activities. Board service requires a commitment of approximately 5 hours per month.
MUUSJA is committed to serving the needs of all of our 26 Minnesota UU congregations; for that reason, it’s important to us that our Board include members who live in Greater MN. Our in person Board meetings take place in the Twin Cities every other month, with an option to participate via Zoom videoconference for those who can’t join live; in alternating months, we have a shorter meeting that all members participate in via Zoom. We also offer a travel stipend to Greater MN Board members who want to join any meeting in person, and ask that those who live at a distance from the Twin Cities join at least two meetings per year in person.
MUUSJA is committed to developing a diverse board. We invite people with disabilities, people of color, indigenous people, Hispanic/Latinx, and LGBTQIA+ candidates to apply.
For more information about Board membership and/or to apply, please check out our Board Application 2019. Completed applications should be emailed to Sherri Knuth, Board Co-Chair ( firstname.lastname@example.org ).
