UUAHP
Steering Committee
Minutes, July 3, 2003
Attending: Bob Aderhold, Ron Dueltgen, Phil Morton
Presiding: Bob A
1. The minutes of the June 5, 2003 meeting were reviewed.
2. The treasurer's report was a balance of $6884.23.
3. Policy Group
A. Bob reported on a conversation that Elaine Ambrose had with Peter Bell
regarding a tour of CSH properties and a homeless shelter. Bell is not
much interested in such a tour, having been exposed to such facilities
previously. He is in favor of more funding for housing but points out
that there are no funds. He encouraged us to come forward with suggestions
that do not cost more money or save current funds for additional uses.
B. CSH Tour: We decided that a tour of CSH facilities was needed, whether
or not Mr. Bell attended. We set a target date of September 17, 2003,
with a 3:00 PM start date. The target audience/tourers should be UUAHP
members, Social Concerns chairs from all congregations, ministers and
Board members from all congregations.
Bob will draft publicity materials, for review by Ron D and Phil M.
Ron will contact Jo H and Diane Allen to obtain lists of social concerns
chairs and ministers.
Bob will contact CSH to see if the date is OK, and make arrangements with
them.
All publicity must be ready by Aug. 10 for inclusion in congregational
newsletters, MUUSJA news, etc.
4. Habitat for Humanity
There was no report beyond the recent news of the CBC build
5. Funding - deferred to the barbeque (below).
6. GIS
We discussed how the GIS might be used by UUAHP and our congregations.
Any lobbying efforts could be enhanced by the information a GIS map could
provide. The problem of collecting name-and-address information was considered
to be a major hurdle, from both a privacy and cost basis. Phil M volunteered
to see about collecting this data from Unity.
7. Barbeque
Bob reminded us about the UUAHP barbeque to be held at his home on July
27, 4:00 PM. Reminder notices have been sent out. We will reserve 30 minutes
for some business discussion, particularly funding issues.
NEXT MEETING: THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 6:30 PM, FIRST UNITARIAN SOCIETY
