The Corporation for Supportive Housing [CSH] is a national financial and technical assistance intermediary dedicated to helping non-profit organizations develop and operate service-enriched permanent housing for homeless and at-risk families and individuals with special needs.

Permanent Supportive Housing serves the population in the community with the lowest incomes and the highest risk:
· Chronically homeless
· Chemically dependent
· Mental illness
· HIV/Aids
· History of trauma or abuse
· Elderly

Features of Supportive Housing
· Permanency [As long as tenant pays rent and complies with terms of the lease]
· Affordability [No more than 30% of income]
· Cost effective [1/10th the cost of institutionalization]
· Provides social services [flexible, non-mandatory]

Pre-development money is needed by organizations and developers to do the initial research and develop proposals to communities and financiers. These grants, typically about $15,000 each, are recoverable when the project is approved and funded and can be re-invested in other projects. UUAHP intends to make 3 - 4 grants, which can be recovered for new investments after 5 years. More information on the actual projects will become available as they take shape.

UUAHP granted $50,000 to Corporation for Supportive Housing on March 5, 2002. See Press Release at: March 2002 Press release
