America: where corporations are people and money is speech.
These two court-created doctrines have turned our democracy on its head. Citizens United, McCutcheon v. FEC, Hobby Lobbyundefinedthese are but the latest assaults on the sovereignty of We the People. But We the People are organizing to take our democracy back!

Join Move to Amend spokesperson David Cobb for his talk "Creating Democracy and Challenging Corporate Rule." Part history lesson and part heart-felt call to action, David will tell the story of the American creation myth and the Constitution as it pertains to corporate personhood and illegitimate but legal corporate constitutional rights.

David Cobb is a lawyer and political activist. David has sued corporate polluters, lobbied elected officials, run for political office himself, and been arrested for non-violent civil disobedience. He truly believes we must use ALL the tools in the toolbox to effect the systemic social change we so desperately need.

Formed in September 2009, Move to Amend is a national coalition calling for an amendment to the US Constitution to unequivocally state that inalienable rights belong to human beings only, and that money is not a form of protected free speech under the First Amendment and can be regulated in political campaigns.

Sponsored by Minneapolis Area and St. Paul Area Move to Amend (movetoamend.org), Minnesota Unitarian Universalist Social Justice Alliance and First Unitarian Society
